STATEMENT: The Hamburg Declaration Shows North Sea Wind’s “power”

Responding to the government’s signing of a new European clean energy security pact, the Hamburg Declaration, UKSIF CEO James Alexander said:

“Today’s declaration between the UK and European neighbours shows the North Sea’s strength as a major engine of offshore wind power, with the potential to capture huge amounts of investment.

“Financiers require stable, long-term frameworks to deploy capital at scale. The recent record-breaking AR7 wind auction underscored the sector’s capacity to unlock billions of pounds of private capital, fuelling jobs and growth.

“The government’s continued backing of credible clean energy policies is crucial for sustaining investor confidence and maintaining the UK’s position as an attractive, investable market.”
