
Bruno Gardner
Head of Climate Change and Nature, Phoenix GroupBruno is Head of Climate Change and Nature at Phoenix Group, one of the UK’s largest long-term savings and retirement businesses. He is responsible for developing Phoenix’s overall ambition and strategy on climate change and nature, coordinating climate and nature-related disclosures and leading a programme of thought leadership and engagement to drive wider system change. He has been a member of the UKSIF Policy Committee since 2024 and Chair since 2025. Bruno has also represented Phoenix on a number of other industry bodies, including the Transition Finance Council, Transition Plan Taskforce, Net Zero Asset Owner Alliance Policy Track and ABI Climate Change Working Group.
Bruno has spent the majority of his career working on climate change, sustainability and energy topics in strategic and commercial roles with organisations including McKinsey and the Carbon Trust, where he was Managing Director of Policy and Innovation. Directly prior to joining Phoenix Group, Bruno worked at the NFU where he set up a new business to help NFU members develop and install renewable energy projects. Bruno has a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Cardiff University and an MBA from INSEAD.
