UKSIF, IIGCC, and PRI letter to the Prime Minister: Seizing the opportunities of the net-zero transition

Following the UK’s general election, the CEOs from UKSIF, IIGCC, and PRI and UKSIF have published an open letter to the new Prime Minister, urging the government to seize the opportunities of the net-zero transition through a renewed policy focus and delivery.

The letter – also supported by Aldersgate Group, E3G, Impact Investing Institute, ShareAction and WWF-UK – outlines the substantial opportunities presented by the transition to net zero by 2050. However, to fully seize the opportunities, the letter states “we urgently need a supportive policy environment that provides businesses and investors with the confidence and certainty needed to make long-term investments.” The main call to action in the letter is the ask “to establish a long-term, ambitious ‘whole-of-government’ approach to the delivery of the UK’s net zero strategy, underpinned by credible and comprehensive sectoral decarbonisation pathways and targeted incentives.”
