- Breadth of perspective: Clients benefit from a global, diverse investment organization..
- Firm-wide ownership: As an independent, employee-owned manager, Neuberger Berman is devoted to identifying and managing risk—risk to our clients, risk to our portfolios, risk to our reputation. Approach
• Engagement – We continue to build out a comprehensive, firm-wide ESG engagement tracking system that allows us to quantify the number of issuers with which we have participated in ESG dialogue.
• Ratings – We continue to expand on our NB ESG Quotient, proprietary ratings across Fixed Income and Equities, and continue to collaborate with our Data Science team to further enhance these ratings with additional data sets and custom analyst contributions.
• Collaboration – We are deepening our collaboration through leadership roles at SASB, PRI, the Impact Management Project and Transition Pathways Initiative in addition to other industry initiatives. We host ESG roundtables with clients and partners, including within private markets.
• Thought Leadership – Through our thought leadership, we publish timely and relevant white papers and notes on ESG integration and other relevant topics.
• Strategies –We integrate ESG analysis across our firm, including equity, fixed income, and private markets strategies, to varying degrees. 90% of the AUM in our UCITS and QIAIF Funds range are in strategies designated Article 8 or 9 under SFDR as of 31 March 2022. We also launch dedicated ESG strategies and continue to innovate to meet our clients’ needs.
• Climate – We are focused on assessing both climate-related risks and opportunities associated with our core business. We will continue to build-out this capability to cover all of our investment portfolios. Additionally, in 2020 we implemented minimum coal exclusions across the firm’s U.S. registered open-end and closed-end funds and UCITS funds through the development of a formal thermal coal involvement policy.
