Description
Everyone Matters is a not-for-profit advocacy group seeking to transform culture for everyone in financial
services to drive human and environmental sustainability. We’re the first group to link
the importance of diversity of thought with human and environmental sustainability. We were founded in 2023 by Pat Sharman and Mike Evans, who have a combined 73 years’ experience in financial services.
We’re supported by six ambassadors, including Stuart White, CEO of HSBC Asset Management (UK). Our membership is open to everyone across financial services.
We promote the power of equality, inclusivity and diverse thinking to drive more creative and critical thinking to help address how the financial services industry limits the impact of climate change,
biodiversity loss and manages social change. Approach
Our starting point is moving the industry conversation from demographic diversity to diversity of thought,
which will drive human sustainability and creative thinking to address environmental
challenges such as climate change and biodiversity loss. A focus on diversity of thought will naturally lead to demographic diversity - it's rethinking how we look at diversity.
The World Economic Forum cited that creativity and critical thinking are two key skills needed in the world of work and this is especially relevant today with environmental and societal (AI for example) changes.
Furthermore, the financial services industry is in a unique position to help mitigate climate change (through financed emissions) and biodiversity loss (supply chain management).
Central to our focus is inspiring people in financial services to look at diversity, human sustainability and the
environment in a different way. We do this through events, content and working alongside
regulators, industry bodies and organisations with similar goals.
We also develop educational content to help inspire everyone to think about diversity and the environment. This includes our new podcast series Every Voice Matters. As part of this desire to inspire, Everyone Matters is hosting a photographic exhibition in London during December, featuring conservation and people photographers.
