UKSIF Response: BEIS ‘White Paper’ on reforms to audit and corporate governance

UKSIF has responded to BEIS’s Open consultation-Restoring trust in audit and corporate governance: proposals on reforms. In our response, we call for government to lay out as soon as possible a specific timeframe for the implementation of the proposals, including introducing legislation this year to put the new regulator on a statutory footing.

We voice support for a more prominent role for investors in scrutinising companies’ audit policies, and a stricter definition to capture a broader range of companies within the scope of a Public Interest Entity (PIE).
