The Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust (JRCT) wishes to appoint three new co-opted members to serve on its Investment Committee.

Information about the Trust, and our full investment strategy, can be found at: Oversight of our investments is carried out by our Investment Committee, a subcommittee of the main Board.  Its role, as laid out in its terms of reference, is to assist the trustees to fulfil their investment responsibilities.  This includes ensuring that the endowment is managed effectively and in line with the Trust’s strategy, and making recommendations to the Board as appropriate.

Currently Investment Committee comprises five trustees and three long standing co-opted members who will be reaching the end of their terms over the next year. The role of co-optees is to contribute their expertise to the Committee’s discussions and they will form part of the Committee’s collective decision making which is achieved by consensus without voting. It is expected that co-opted members have sound and thorough experience of asset management including asset allocation, stock selection and risk management.

In anticipation of the retirement of the current co-opted members, we are now seeking to appoint new co-opted members to Investment Committee. We anticipate that the new co-opted members may bring different expertise to each other to the committee.  For all co-opted members, a commitment to ethical and responsible investment is essential. They will not be expected to give investment advice as regulated by the FCA.

JRCT offers a standard day rate of £400 to individual co-optees, or their employers. There is no obligation for a co-optee to receive a fee for JRCT work, and co-optees are welcome to waive the fee if they wish to offer their expertise in a voluntary capacity, or if their employer recognises the arrangement as part of an individual’s professional development. All additional expenses are paid, including travel, accommodation and childcare if required.
