Jack Ehnes, CEO, CalSTRS – Jack Ehnes is the chief executive officer of the California State Teachers’ Retirement System. He provides leadership for the largest educator-only pension fund in the world. He is currently chairman of the FTSE Environmental Markets Advisory Committee and a member of the FTSE4Good Advisory Committee.
Peggy Liu, chairperson, Joint US-China Collaboration on Clean Energy (JUCCCE) advises governments and corporates in regards to sustainability and China. As a board member of Project Drawdown, she will outline the comprehensive plan proposed to reverse global warming, which ranks the 100 most substantive, existing solutions to address climate change, providing a framework for allocating resources to tackle this important goal. Peggy is also a member of the FTSE Environmental Markets Advisory Committee.
Dr. Ben Caldecott, Oxford University will address the developments in remote sensing, machine learning, and big data and how that will allow society to determine the characteristics and ownership of physical assets, particularly in environmentally impactful sectors such as power generation, manufacturing, and buildings. It would allow investors, policymakers, regulators, and civil society to understand the environmental risk and impacts that listed and nonlisted companies have everywhere.
Dan Carson, Head of Green Solutions, FTSE Russell, will discuss how green data can be integrated into investment approaches to incorporate a climate hedge and gain exposure to emerging opportunity sets. He will discuss some of the practical challenges of climate investing and whether the investment community is going far enough.
